The New Standard for Corner Stores

Johnny’s is more than just another convenience store. It’s a place you can count on for friendly service, sparkling clean stores, and little extras when you’re on the road.

Get to Know Johnny

Johnny’s Markets came to life in 2014 when our family-owned company, Walters-Dimmick Petroleum (WDP), decided to rethink our Shell convenience stores in West Michigan and Northern Indiana.

From our headquarters in Marshall, Michigan, we imagined a new kind of convenience store — a friendly place where people could find a great cup of coffee, yummy snacks, household goods, and stylish interiors with sparkling clean restrooms around the clock.

We’re always looking for ways to turn everyday moments into a bright spot in your day. So whether you’re stopping in for a snack, brewing Johnny’s coffee at home, or following along online, we want every minute we spend together to leave you feeling more upbeat than when you came.

Our Purpose, Mission, and Values

Our purpose, mission, and values guide us every day. They help us create a consistent, positive environment from our corporate office in Marshall, Michigan to all of our retail locations.

JOHNNY’S PURPOSE

To be a reliable source of goodness in the community.

JOHNNY’S MISSION

To open our doors with a cheerful attitude, providing quality fuels, snacks and drinks, quick meals, and other little necessities and services — all from the convenience of our clean, well-lit, and modern stores.

JOHNNY’S VALUES

Our values help us embrace our mission every day. They’re the skills and behaviors that create our positive culture and we hire and promote people who demonstrate these three values.

Our Values

Be More.

We deliver our best every day.

From day one, Johnny’s set a higher standard, and we’re always raising the bar. We go the extra mile in everything we do — from the way we present our stores and ourselves to the way we approach our daily tasks — creating an energetic and inspiring place where everyone wants to give it their all.

Be Good.

We strive to do the right thing.

We take pride in being honest and dependable. We take responsibility for our actions, value integrity, and make decisions based on what’s best for the greater good of our customers, company, and community.

Be Neighborly.

We’re here for each other.

It’s simple. We’re better together. We value the people who work, live, and play around us, so we support each other and look for ways to build each other up, starting with our teams and extending into our communities.

Johnny Gives Back

At Johnny’s, we owe our success to the people who shop at our stores, and we’re honored to return their support by investing back into our communities. We’re proud to play a part in making good things happen where we work and live.

We support programs and events that help pave a path for young people to be successful.

Over the years, we’ve donated to many of our nearby schools and community events, and we’re always looking for more ways to help the people in our neighborhoods succeed.

If you know of a worthy project or program that could use our support, please fill out and submit a Donation Request Form.

History

Established in 1982

Walters-Dimmick Petroleum, Inc. (WDP) was founded in 1982 by the merger of two long-standing, family-owned businesses — both of which had been serving Southwest Michigan since the 1930s. Based out of Marshall, Michigan, we have always been a wholesaler of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, but over the years, we have expanded our network of retail facilities and quick-service restaurants throughout West Michigan and Northern Indiana.

Today, we operate a chain of convenience stores under our own brand, Johnny’s Markets, and many locations also offer quick-service restaurants such as Subway and Jimmy John’s. As a Shell wholesaler, we’re proud to offer Shell-branded fuels at our Johnny’s locations while also serving our area with Shell fuels through our network of independent dealers.

In addition to our retail business, we are a wholesaler of Shell oils and lubricants, which we distribute to commercial, agricultural, and aeronautical accounts from our Marshall, MI warehouse.

As an established, Michigan-based company, our ties to the community are strong. For over 30 years, WDP has held an annual charity event called the Northern Classic, raising over a million dollars in just the past decade to benefit organizations such as the Kids’ Afterschool Pack Program of the Food Bank of SC MI, Kids’ Food Basket, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Fallen and Wounded Soldiers Fund, and other local veteran’s organizations, in an effort to improve the lives of many in our area. We strive to be more than just another business. We’re here to forge long-lasting relationships with our community.
